Not to be mistaken for Dr. Phil (he's bald), Rev. Phil
has never been given the key to the city or recognized as a favorite son of his hometown. He has however been filmed
in television shows for the Travel Channel, Women's Entertainment, Bravo, The
Style Channel, Discovery Channel, NBC, & ABC Television Networks.
While Rev. Phil has received phone calls about performing ceremonies from producers for the British Broadcasting Company,
they evidently weren’t able to distinguish raw talent (or maybe it was too raw) when they saw it. Ernie “Mr.
Cub” Banks once asked for a copy of his invocation given at the National Sports Collector’s Convention,
Gwen Stefani & No Doubt participated in one of his ceremonies as has Neil Patrick Harris of
How I Met Your Mother, Charlie Sheen once complimented him on a ceremony, Rev. Phil
sat back to back in a restaurant with The Bellamy Brothers, sat three tables away from Bobby Rydell
in another restaurant, had Tony Danza sit with his back to Rev. Phil at an expensive
steakhouse, met Bobby Vee in the basement parking garage at the Riviera Hotel & Casino, turned down a
chance to meet Wayne Newton (even though he would like to meet him someday), has the private phone number
and home address of Steve Schirripa of Sopranos fame, nearly been on Randy Travis'
tour bus, waited in an American Airlines plane at the DFW airport boarding gate 1 hour so Deana Carter (“People
Miss Planes”??) could board the plane, performed a wedding ceremony for Jesse James of Monster
Garage, had his picture made with most of the Las Vegas Magicians at a wedding he performed
for two of them, performed renewal of vows #83 for the couple in The Guinness Book of World Records: Most
Marriage Vows Renewals, met both U. S. Senators from Nevada (Who hasn't?), met and worked with Las
Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, and had his Charmin squeezed by Mr. Whipple. Then there was the
Mayor of Niagara Falls, the Chief Justice of the Wyoming Supreme Court, the kicker
for the Tampa Bay Bucs, the infielder for the Detroit Tigers, Heath Hyche
of Blue Collar TV, those former Dallas Cowboys, the ultimate fighters, the late night
dinner with Rob Schiller, the director of King of Queens. And then add Miss
Nevada, Miss Central America, Mrs. Elaine Wynn, The First Lady of Nevada, a Nevada Supreme Court Justice
and then there was Elvis & Elvis & Elvis (oh no, those were impersonators) but there were those dinners with Elvis'
right hand man, Joe Esposito who lives in my "hood".
